 About the Role

The role of a Design Engineer – Solar comprises the full cycle technical design, simulation, layout, and cost estimation of solar PV systems. You will closely collaborate with sales, engineering, and site execution teams to provide optimized and correct solar solutions for residential, commercial, and industrial clients.

 Key Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation of a solar photovoltaic system by using the tools of PVsyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD, and SketchUp.

   

• Make a complete list of all the materials and quantities needed, the proposals and the cost estimations.

   

• Perform technical assessments through on-site surveys before and after sales.

   

• To get the best performance of the system, make the changes that are going to provide the most energy output and performance.

   

• Prepare the diagrams, SLDs, and layout plans of the electrical system in accordance with the actual site conditions.

   

• Create 3D models of the solar system for shading analysis and performance simulation purposes.

   

• The designs must meet the requirements of IEC standards, NEC standards, and local grid codes.

   

• Cooperation with various teams is a must to keep the project on track without any interruptions.

Qualification & Experience

• BSc in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

• Minimum 3+ years of experience in solar PV design or a similar role

 Skills & Competencies

• Grasped by doing design work on a practical level around the globe from the smallest home-sized units to large-scale power plant-type PV systems installations.

   

• Assessed the energy load, determined the required size of the system and made the energy yield calculations with great confidence.

   

• Able to use PVsyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD, and SketchUp quite well.

   

• Perceived the subjects of alternating current/direct current configuration, string sizing, and inverter selection very well.

   

• Acquainted with the ground connection, power surge protection, and lightning protection systems.

   

• Knowledgeable of the net-metering process and the steps that have to be taken in order to get the utility company’s approval.

   

• He was strong in Bill of Quantities making, cost reducing, and site job coordination.

   

• He was also well acquainted with Health, Safety, and Environment compliance and technical troubleshooting.
